Why not become a Friend of The Malpas Arts and Literary
Festival?
For a yearly subscription of £20 for a single
membership and £30 for a double membership you will get advance
information of every thing that is happening at the
Festival, as well as invitations to VIP events to meet
authors and performers.
The Friends of Malpas Festival enjoyed several
outings over the past few months. The first in October
was a trip to Buddulph Old Hall where we were given a
tour of the fascinating house as well as its history
while enjoying tea and delicious cakes, from the current
owner Nigel Daly.
Next there was a visit to Malletts Antiques at their
sumptuous new premises at Ely House in Dover Street,
London in November. Giles Hutchinson-Smith provided a
glass of champagne as he took us on a private tour and
explained the histories of the amazing exhibits.
"Thank you both so much for organising such a special
time at Mallett's in the wonderful newly renovated Ely
House on Dover Street. Wow! what beautiful pieces of
furniture etc, I'm now on their mailing list!!
It was lovely to meet new Malfest 'Friends' and see 'Malfest
friends' I've met before.
I'm looking forward to the next outing on Monday to 'The
Manchester Art Gallery' " Lynette, Altrincham
Just before Christmas we were offered a curator-led tour
of The Cutting Edge exhibition at Manchester City Art
Gallery. The works in this stunning display were all
made from paper, including miniature houses, life size
trees, ladies dresses and even a motorbike!
 Afterwards
we enjoyed mince pies and mulled wine with Gwen Oakden,
Board Director at FutureEverything at Manchester
Galleries. We would like to thank all those who have
helped make the first season of Friends Outings so
memorable and there will be more excursions this year,
so watch this space!!
